Pura Enchilada..... Lawrenceville

Judging from the location and the restaurants appearance you might be hesitant to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food they were serving so when we started this blog we wanted to make sure we gave it an official review. There are 16 different enchiladas on there menu most of them are delicious and unique. There salsa is slightly Italian tasting with less of a cilantro flavor and more of a tomato base. Over all it is flavorful and refreshing said Melanie aka Julia f**king Child. We started our meal with the queso fundido which was nothing to write home about, you're better off ordering the cheese dip it is cheaper and tastes the same minus the ground chorizo. We ordered three enchiladas one with shrimp and scallops with a creamy herb sauce, a goat cheese stuffed enchilada with a ranchero style sauce, and a pork enchilada with a sweet mole sauce and  poblano cream. Having eaten here before I've previously ordered these and would suggest them for any first timers. The home made tortillas are really what makes this restaurant special so we also ordered the fish tacos as well. The tacos were a little on the small side but were delicious and filling in the end. The fish was cooked perfect and was topped with shredded cabbage, cilantro and chipotle mayo. There Margaritas do the trick, unlike some Mexican restaurants than skimp on the tequila their half pitchers are big and will give you a buzz. Unfortunately each time we've eaten here business seems slow but hopefully more people will give it a try and enjoy it as much as we do.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Pura Enchilada on Urbanspoon

Footprints Cafe..... Grayson Hwy

Footprints Cafe is a Caribbean restaurant on Grayson Hwy. in Lawrenceville. The decor is really nice, the neon lights give it a night club feel. When we sat down it took awhile to get someone to acknowledge we were there however when we got a server she was very helpful with the menu. The meal started with a sweet Jamaican bread with garlic butter. We ordered the corn fritters as an appetizer but since they were out, we got the cod cakes instead. They were ok, but seemed to resemble a hush puppy more than a fish cake. They are served with tartar sauce or guacamole, we recommend the guacamole. On the table they have a hot sauce that is one of the best I've ever had and went well with the cod cakes and everything else we ordered. For the main course we had the Rasta Pasta with jerk shrimp and coconut curry red snapper and shrimp with beans & rice and mixed veggies. The pasta was creamy and flavorful, the best part was definitely the shrimp which had the best jerk seasoning I've had. The snapper and shrimp were cooked perfectly but i wouldn't suggest the curry, it tasted more like Chinese take out and the coconut flavor was non existent. If I was to order it again I would probably get it jerked. It was relatively expensive but something we would like to try again.

Arizonas Steak House at Stonecrest mall

Recently we went on a vacation and on the way back we stopped at Arizona's steak house in Lithonia. We had never heard of the restaurant before but were pleasantly surprised by the menu. It seems to be an upscale steak house with a southern flare. Unfortunately we were tired from traveling and couldn't give it an in depth evaluation but enjoyed it and would love to go back sometime soon. Jonny had the fried pork chop which came with a sweet potato hash, caramelized apples and creamed spinach. I had BBQ chicken with a jalapeno corn souffle. Overall pretty great.

Taco Depot... 4788 Sugarloaf Pkwy Lawrenceville

For lunch we hit up one of our favorite places in Gwinnett... Taco Depot. This is one spot we always thought should be on Diners, Drive inns and Dives. There are many Mexican restaurants in the area but none that are this authentic. The best part are the homemade corn tortillas. Over time we have tried several things on their menu but discovered that you can't go wrong with the pastor tacos, which are their specialty. The pastor is marinated pork stacked high on a spit and is rotated in front of you. It is by far the best meat they have to offer. We ordered three tacos each, they are reasonably priced at $1.35 a taco. The pastor is served in two corn tortillas and topped with cilantro and onions, the meat itself is sweet and crispy. The tacos are served with three salsas, we prefer the green tomatillo one the best, which is slightly spicy and tangy and goes perfect with the pastor. The tacos are garnished with thin slices of radish and lime wedges, the radish adds a crunchy element and the lime brightens the overall flavor of the taco. Although it is small inside, it is bright and comfortable. We like to sit at the taco bar where we can see our food being prepared. Even though it is very authentic don't be intimidated to walk in and order, it is very American friendly. If you are looking for free chips and salsa or cheese dip you might want to try monterays, but as far as traditional street tacos no one in the Atlanta area is doing it better. Overall  this place is the Sh**!!!, these tacos melt in your mouth.                  Taco Depot on Urbanspoon
